Birmingham is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands county of England. The Birmingham Royal Ballet also resides in the city as does the world's oldest vocational dance school, Elmhurst School for Dance. In terms of art galleries Birmingham has two major public art collections. Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is best known for its works by the Pre-Raphaelites, a collection "of outstanding importance" and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts in Edgbaston which is renowned one of the finest small art galleries in the world.

Birmingham is also home to the science museum Think Tank, an IMAX cinema, a planetarium and other science-based museums including the National Sea Life Centre in Brindleyplace. Birmingham is also teeming with restaurants and bars to suit all tastes including many award winning eateries.
