London Gears up for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games

17th January 2012

With less than 200 days to go till the Olympic Opening Ceremony in July, the Capital's preparations continue to push ahead to ensure that everything is in place by the time the Games arrive.

Earlier this month the London 2012 Organising committee announced the next stages in the planning schedule to transform the newly built Olympic Park into a fully operational sporting venue. Before the games begin officially, several test events will be held to ensure that the venue stands up to scrutiny. Further preparation will involve the construction of 100,000 square feet of retail space to be used throughout the Games, and branding the entire Olympic Park to match the "look and feel" of the Olympic campaign.

World renowned artist Monica Bonvicini has created a giant sculpture depicting nine metre tall letters spelling out the word "RUN". Each letter weighs ten tonnes and features mirrored panels and LED lighting, providing one of the main attractions within the Olympic Park.

With the date of the games fast approaching, accommodation across London is beginning to fill up as people plan their breaks over the summer to attend the Olympic events. Deep Blue Apartments have accommodation across the Capital, all of which offer an excellent base from which to enjoy the games. London serviced apartments offer you the flexibility and privacy of having your own living and cooking space, as well as a place to lay your head between enjoying the celebrations!

Confirmed Date for Blackfriars Tube Re-opening!

11th January 2012

Following the reopening of the main Blackfriars rail station, the Tube Station is to be reopened on the 28th February, allowing public access to the newly refurbished station.

When the tube station reopens, passengers will enjoy a number of benefits including easier connection between the main, national rail station and the underground network. New escalators have been installed to a newly built, larger ticket hall, boasting a control room and state of the art security centre.

There is also enhanced wheelchair access for interchanging between street level, and down to the lower platforms.

With passengers being forced to re-plan their journeys via either Temple of Mansion House stations, it will be a welcome change to see the station open again in just over a month's time.

Deep Blue's Blackfriars/ St Pauls Apartments are a two minute walk away from the station, perfect for connecting into the city on business, or to explore the many leisure attractions London offers at your leisure!

Blackfriars Open Day a Success!

9th December 2011

Last week Deep Blue Apartments hosted an Open Day at our newly refurbished Blackfriars/ St Pauls apartments. Lots of our friends in the industry came along to see us in our prime location, just down the road from St Paul's Cathedral! We gave the day a festive twist, complete with Christmas tree and fairy lights.

The day was a resounding success, and mince pies and mulled wine were enjoyed by all. The Deep Blue team had a great time showing people round the apartments and enjoying the Christmas atmosphere.

We would like to thank everyone for coming and contributing to the success of the day, and we hope that you all enjoyed viewing the apartments!

We are operating discounted rates at the Blackfriars/St Pauls location until the 9th January 2012! The apartments are perfect for a spot of Christmas shopping at the One New Change shopping centre, or taking in dinner and a show close by in the theatre district.

We are planning to hold more open days in the New Year to show off some of our other apartment locations and we'll be sure to keep everyone informed.

Blackfriars Rail Station Reopening Soon!

5th December 2011

The rail and tube station has remained closed since 2009, but with work almost complete, parts of the station are now reopening.

The first new trains with 12 carriages are expected to call at the main rail station next month. These larger trains will run during peak hours, meaning an extra 2,000 seats are available for commuters during rush hour. This will make travel from our Blackfriars / St Pauls Apartments even easier.

Thames Link are advising that there will still be on-going work once the station has been opened however. They will continue to work on lift access, footpath improvements and the tube station.

Blackfriars will be the first tube station to span the river, with new entrances on South bank and North bank to give easy access to the Tate Modern and the National Theatre.

The tube is expected to reopen in Spring of 2012, restoring links with the District and Circle lines. The new tube station will boast step free access, a larger ticket hall and wider platforms.
